Effective Wound Care Simplified.
Wound AI is an AI-powered wound assessment and tracking application designed for Android devices, launched as Version 1.0 in September 2024.
It is intended for registered healthcare professionals under the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) or equivalent regulatory bodies, including clinicians trained in wound care treatment, home care nurses, community health workers, and patients managing their wound recovery under clinical supervision. The application’s primary purpose is to deliver real-time wound analysis by enabling users to capture images of wounds with a smartphone or tablet, record comprehensive wound history, and monitor healing progression over time. This process supports more informed treatment decisions and helps ensure continuity of care across clinic, home, and remote settings.
Better Wound Insights. Better Outcomes.
Wound AI offers a secure and compliant platform, requiring HPCSA or professional body verification upon registration and adhering to POPIA data protection regulations. It meets SAPHRA Class A diagnostic device compliance standards. The application guides users through structured workflows for initiating new wound cases or updating existing ones, capturing details such as the cause of the wound, prior medications, activity levels, pain scores, and visible symptoms. The built-in AI image analysis tool evaluates uploaded photos of wounds and dressings, providing an assessment of the current healing status.
Monitor. Manage. Mend
Patients and clinicians can track progress using the wound timeline feature, mark wounds as healed, and access resources for at-home wound care, including specific product-based treatment guides. Connectivity is optimised for both online and offline use, with Wi-Fi indicators assisting in achieving the best image upload performance. For clinics and hospitals, Wound AI streamlines wound care documentation and enables remote follow-up, while for home care services it offers a means of continuous oversight without the need for in-person visits. For patients, it provides structured guidance and clinician oversight, improving adherence to treatment protocols and potentially accelerating recovery outcomes.
